Baseball is a game, which is mostly played between two teams consisting of nine players each. The game is played on an enclosed field and as per the rules under the observation of umpires.
The main objective of each team in a game of baseball is to score more runs than the opponent to the win the game. The team, which scores the higher number of runs at the end as per the rules, wins.
As far as the field of the baseball is concerned, it has an outfield and an infield. The infield is mostly square but is known as a diamond. The diamond has a base at every corner where every base is 90 feet away from each other.
Runs are scored when a player known as the ‘pitcher’ throws the ball to the hitter who hits the ball inside the foul lines.
The innings in a baseball ends when the fielding team has three hitters or runners out. Once the inning ends, the two teams swap and the fielding team takes to bat whereas the hitting team takes to field. The team scoring the highest number of runs at the end of nine innings wins the game.
